COLUMBA COLLEGE SPORTS

A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The first big sports meeting in connection with Columba College took place at Bishopscourt. on Saturday, before a large gathering. The Kaikorai Band played an excellent, programme, ami afternoon lea, provided by the college and dispensed by , the girls niidcr Miss Miles, was much appreciated by everyone. The college indebted to the Kaikorai Cricket Club, and particularly to its president (Mr C. Beeby), and its captain (Mr H. J. Rigby), for valuable assistance given in the preparation of the ground. Tho lyilk of the work of carrying the events through was done by Miss H. M. Sellwood, of tho college staff, Mr B. B. Couslon being among those who shouldered a considerable share of the burden for her. A number of the preliminary heats were decided in the morning, and the afternoon programme was got through in good time. Tho senior cup, presented by Mr and Mrs R. A. Ewing, was won most decisively by K. Robilliard, who came first in each one of tho senior cup events. Her winning jump of 4ft lin wits a notable one. I. Moadowcroft was runner-up for the senior cup. The junior cup, presented by Mrs R. E. Davies, was won by L. Lawrence with 7 points, P. Salmond with 6 points being aclose second. At the close of the programme the girls gave a display of physical drill under Miss Sellwood, and the prizes, many of which were donated by friends of tile school, were then presented to the successful competitors by Mr B.
