A “DRY” AGITATOR
TROUBLE OVER FUNDS.
CHARGES OF MISAPPROPRIATION.
Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright,
NEW YORK, July 20,
A sensational ease which for long has agitated both Prohibitionists and antiProhibitionists came to a climax to-day, when the grand jury indicted W. 11. Anderson, New York State superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League, on charges of misappropriating large amounts of the league’s funds. When the charges were first made, the Rockefellers, who contributed largely to the league funds, withdrew much of their support. Anderson had been one of the most vigorous “ dry ” agitators in America, the AntiSaloon League playing a big part in the campaign which eventually resulted in Prohibition.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
