The South Island averages are better than, those of the North Island, and the Wellington average is the best in the North “island. The average values _ per bale are in almost all cases substantially better than in pre-war- days. According to Messrs Dalgety and Co.’s last wool review, the average prices per bale for_the entire clip of Australia and Ncw_ Zealand in each of the five seasons prior to the war wore as follow:

Except at Gisborne, where the offering was limited, the average prices last season exceeded the pre-war averages. The gross value of tho wool sold at each of the centres during tho past season is given in the table appended:

Tl. for N.Z. 457,f117 £7,369,738 11 4J Wellington is easily the leading woolselling centre of New Zealand, and in tho past season practically one-fourth of the wool sold was disposed of here, and tho aggregate money value of wool sold was nearly half a million more than in Christchurch, which, on account of the finer quality of the wool sold, was able to distribute £1,250,185 12s 2d.
