Mondas, Amur, 30. (Beforo Mr H. W. Bundle, 8.M.) ECHO OF BLY GROG CASE. Walter Hanson was charged with being on tho premises of Peter Peterson for the purposes of illegally dealing in liquor. Defendant did not appear, but sent a letter stating that he had gone away to work in tho North Island. The charge arose out of a raid on Peterson's premises in South Dunedin, on January 21 last. Constable Coppell told of the raid, and said that they found defendant and throe others on the premises. Hanson’s excuse had been that ho was merely visiting Peterson. There was a glass ai hie feet, but ho denied that he had 1 been drinking, though ho admitted having been on the premises on tho occasion of a previous raid. They had given a hazy oxplaualien. —Matthew Henry Richards, licensee of the hotel, gave evidence.-—The defendant Greer said he went in to use the lavatory' in the yard.—Sergeant Dunlop stated that the defendants were inside the gate, which was locked. They had both been drinking.—Bennett was fined 40s, with costs (8s), and Greer 20s, with costs. REMANDED. Fulford Benjamin Underhill, charged with the theft of 26 dozen silver bracelets, the property of the Federal Steamship Company, was further remanded until Friday next. MAINTENANCE. Hugh Brown was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on a charge of disobedience of a maintenance order, the warrant to be suspended so long as defendant paid 20b per week. The arrears were stated as £53 5s 6d. Aft: 0. J. L, White appeared for the complainant. Matthew Alexander Clydesdale (Mr Irwin) was also sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, tho warrant to be suspended so long as ho paid £2 2a a week. ARMS ACT. For having unregistered firearms in their possession, James Ballantyne Hislop and Alexander Munro were fined 10s and 6a respectively, with costs (7s) in each case. BY-LAWS BROKEN. For lighting a fire in tho open without obtaining a permit James Connack was fined 20s, with costs (7s).——Hugh Urquhart and Robert Wyse wore jointly charged with allowing cattle to wander, and were fined tho amount of the costa (9s). Charles Meade, for a similar offence, was fined 20s and costs, he having offended on a previous occasion. Hector M'Millaa was fined ss, with cost®, for riding a bicycle without a light. John Gale, the owner of another wandering horse, was fined 6s, with costs,——Norman Findlay, for leaving a motor car without lights, was fined ss, with costs.
