THE SMUGGLING DIFFICULTY,

PATROL MEASURES PROPOSED

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.

WASHINGTON, April 27,

The United States has again asked Britain’s diplomatic support in tho suppression of smuggling, suggesting that tho United States be informed whenever large liquor cargoes leave Britain, while tho United States would reciprocally appraise Britain of American exports that might illegally bo used in British territory. The White House spokesman has announced that President Harding has completed his plan for providing tho full use of maval and military forces to suppress liquor smuggling. Tho President has requested the Department of Justice to rule whether such forces may be used to enforce civil Prohibition. If tho ruling is favorable a fleet of fast submarine chasers will immediately be assigned to patrol the coast, with military guards ashore to prevent landing.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
