A COSTLY JOKE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, April 23. A Senegalese soldier ran amok in Marseilles. lie killed three a.nd wounded ten of his comrades. The affair was due to a practical joke played in the dormitory barracks where the colored troops were housed. The soldier, whose ago was thirtytwo, had arrived only five days previously from Africa. Some comrades told him that ho was going to bo shot, and this preyed on the man’s mind. Ho slept little, and had terrible nightmares. When the bugle sounded the reveille on Sunday he armed himself with a knife and sprang at his comrades and cut their throats. Throe were killed in a few seconds, and others were wounded before the Senegalese was overpowered.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
