‘SCANDAL’
A NOTED PLAT. Harry I. Cohen, by arrangement with J. 0. Williamson, Ltd., will present a production of unusual interest at His Majesty’s for a short season, when local playgoers will again have an opportunity of seeing the much-talked-of ‘Scandal.’ The play will introduce to Dunedin a new leading lady in Miss Doris Duano, a charming actress, who played in the original Now York cast, and who will have associated ■ with her a specially-selected cast, including Erie Harrison (a noted English leading man), Harold Moran, George Broad, Lucy Carter, Arthur Orbell, Mary MacGregor, Arthur Adams, John Galway, and Graham Newton. There aro three acts in ‘ Scandal ’—tho first takes place in a studio in New York, the second in a bedroom in a country house, and the third in a mansion home in Connecticut. 1 Scandal ’ tells the story of tho frequently disconcerting perplexities of Beatrix Vanderdyke, of tho Now York Vanderdykes, whoso craving for adventure forms tho groundwork oi the plot—a dramatisation of a novel of the same name written by Cosmo Hamilton. Mr Hamilton is, perhaps, the bestknown writer of society plays to-day. It is not generally known that ho is a brother of Sir Philip Gibbs, tho famous war correspondent. * His services aro greatly in demand both in England and America as a serial contributor to magazines, and his‘ two or three ventures as a dramatic playwright all produced remarkable successes, of winch ‘ Scandal ’ is easily tho greatest. ‘ Scandal ’ has had an exceptionally prosperous run throughout the dominion. The ‘ Press,’ Christchurch, says ! “ Though daring and utterly defiant of convention in its plot, Cosmo Hamilton’s comedy ‘ Scandal ’ would jar the morals of none but tho greatest prude. It is a most delightful comedy, but has its dramatic moments.” The plans for tho three nights are on view at The Bristol.
