They were made by the Rev. Sabine Baring-Gouid when, in 1354, he was curate of Horbury, near Wakefield. Since 1831 Jlr Baring-Gonk! (who celebrated the ninetieth anniversary of his oirlh on January 28), has been rector of Lew-Trenchard, North Devon. From that remote and quiet place has come a steady stream of books in an infinite variety, but all bearing witness to the gracious scholarship of their author.
