Y.M.C.A. CARNIVAL
ADDITIONAL FUNDS REQUIRED. A carnival organised for the purpose of augmenting the general funds of the Dunedin Y.M.C.A. was opened to-day in the association’s buildings, in Moray Place. There were all the features of an up-to-date carnival, and a number ot attractive novelties. Various stalls were laden with an abundance of articles both useful and ornamental, and the efforts of those in charge should result in a ready sale and a liberal return. The sweet stall is in the hands of the girls of the Y.W.G.A.; the produce stall, which is well stocked, is controlled by tho ladies of the Church of Christ, assisted by others; the stall for the disposal of cakes, Mrs Yuillc and a group of ladies from Knox Church supervised; while the work stall is is the hands of Mrs North (president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary) and a group of helpers. Miss Hislop has charge of a pretty little flower stall. To-night, Messrs J. Haig, T. W. Dobbie, and Christie will contribute vocal items, and a wireless concert will be given, while numerous side-shows such as hoop-la, chamber of horrors,'shooting gallery, and fortune-telling, will delight Chose interested in such forms of amusement. The sale was officially opened this afternoon by Mr J. B. Waters, who commended the efforts of the promoters., and trusted that the association would benefit considerably by the sale. Mr H. K. Wilkinson also expressed appreciation of the workers, and of the liberal attendance of buyers. The ladies’ gymnastic display, arranged for to-morrow night, by t J. Hanna, should be a spectacular and interesting item.
