MADE,I HILL. Tht' average roll number for the year was 349, and the average attendance 329, while the roll number now stands at 348. 'i'he school buildings have been painted and arc now in excellent order, but (hero is still need of improvement in the school grounds. i lie inspector made .his annual visit of inspection, and his report was highly creditable to the staff. The Bible classes were carried on under the supervision of the clergymen of the district, and were well attended, hut towards the end of the year the work was allowed to lapse owing to the difficulty of securing clergymen to carry on. but it is hoped to get a start again during the year. The school bank has had another successful year, the amount of £lOl 7s 4d being withdrawn at the end of the year, and there is now a balance of £B6 5s lid standing to the credit of the children. At the annual proficiency examination thirty-nine, pupils were presented, and of these twenty-eight obtained proficiency certificates and eleven competency certificates, while at the scholarship examinations James Wilson was successful in a national scholarship. The finances of the committee are in a healthy condition, thanks to the very hearty support that the housclio'ders ’ gave to the bazaar and concert held in. November, Uiese two functions
