Replying to a question in the Commons as to whether the Government was prepared to invite the nations concerned to confer with a view to funding the Allied war debts, Mr Stanley Baldwin said he thought nothing would be gained by a conference at present. The Chancellor of the. Exchequer added that the amount of reparations to bo demanded from Germany was the greatest possible payment she could make, and this was not dependent on the inter-Allied indebtedness.—A. and N.Z.
