THE GREAT WORLD CRISIS

" The old order changeth, yielding place to now,” said Mr J. R. Thompson at the Theosophical Hall on Sunday evening. Tho present social system is out-worn, unsuitable for the future progress of the soul, and is now' being scrapped. Every nation is just now in tho passion of a mad orgy of internal and external strife, political and social. This is not tho way to reconstruct the world. Tho nations will realise, must realise, that they are part of one whole, that tho orchestration of the nations requires that every people should be in harmonious relation. Every class and every typo of ego is necessary, but if any class or type is overemphasised, there is internal disharmony. Without this class co-operation, a nation cannot hope to pass unscathed through the present crisis. Tho nation cannot be reformed before tho individual. Laws and statutes will not reform the nation. In fact no change of outer circumstances will suffice If the inner spirit remains unaltered. Tho great changes of tho world come when the spirit of man is touched, not by outer invention or evolution. The present world crisis is the birth-pangs of a new social order and a new spirit, which will be the regeneration of religion and idealism. Tho now spirit will demand the beautification of public life, tho closer upion of science and philosophy, and equality of opportunity for tho individual. The new spirit will condemn tho economic waste of competition and will reorganise government so that it progresses smoothly from the single unit to the great commonwealth of nations. As at the fall of the last groat order, the great Roman Empire, the new one was ushered in by the Christ, so this time again will tho Christ return to kindle anew in tho hearts of men tho fire of enthusiasm for a now world.
