DUNEDIN AND ITS BAYS
(With apologies to the late Thomas Bracken.) Go, trailer unto others rave Of Burnside as a Feme; Of beauty in the groynes you see When at St. Clair you roam; Of Logan’s filled-in dreary lake; Of weather that holds sway— These may please some, but dont give m* Dunedin and its* Bay. The worthy maidens living there You really can’t ignore With powdered face and dress as snort As woman ever wore; The population there is Scotch, And therefore very fey— Go. picture them and then you have Dunedin and its Bay. A harbor in. whose shallow reach Are solid banks of sand, As if just waiting there to try Borne passing boat to strana; Their summits just above the tide, Their forms stretch miles each way— Go, picture this, and then you have Dunedin and its Bay. Ah, never till my mem’ry fails Shall I forgot the hours, As standing in the slushy street, I sheltered from the showers Of sou'-west sleet that driven, fell From, the dismal sky so gray > And loft so cold, nmi wet. and drear, Dunedin and its Bay. —A Contributor from Central Otago.
