SECOND DAY-WEDNESDAY. 1 TOTAWSATOB FIGURES AGAIN "DOWN.*' The second day's- racing 'at the D. J.C, Summer Meeting was interesting and enjoyable. -The attendance, however. wa# not a very large one, and the totalisator figures—as in other racing centre#—were substantially “down.” On the second day £27,322 10a waaput through the machines, as-compared ■with £31,341 10s on the corresponding day in 1921. This made the .respective figures for the meeting: 1922, £57,865; 1921, £64,459, a ■ decrease of 5C6,574. The starting was again good. Grand Stand Handicap complaints were made by G. Fisher and H. Deslsndes (riders of In the Pink and Mantua respectively) against Cl Emerson (rider of Listening Post) for interference. Again after the Allan ton Welter Deslandas complained against Emerson on the ground of interference and for swearing at him. On each -.occasion ' the stewards held am inquiry, and decided that there was not sufficient evidence to justify any action being taken. The favorite led into the straight, two lengths in front *of Mirza, Red Gown running wide. Coming on well, Ardour won comfortably by two lengths from Ostorman, who beat Twinkle a neck.. At the far turn Etta, was two lengths in front of Bella, Lake, Bosker Boy, and Bunny Loch.
