THIRD ROUND GAMES. [Pee United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, December 28. The first session of the third round of the chefs championship congress commenced this morning, but none of the games was completed. In the game Pihl v. Stevens, Pihl has a pawn up with a, very difficult end game. Duniop has an advantage in his game with M'Crea. Coombs has allowed Buchan to gain a material 'advantage, though the end game will be hard for Buchan to win. Miller has a big pawn preponderance over Roberts.
Gyles lias won a pawn from Kelling. In the gam© Hicks v. Severn©, a very even position has been maintained. The. third round will be finished tin's afternoon, and the fourth W’U commence sll3 evening,
