Kinney left for Christchurch this morning to attend the conference of the New Zealand Chiropractors’ AssociationBefore Miss Netta Keates left for the north her junior dancing classes presented her with a gold-mounted fountain pen; Mbs Iris Keates also bobg the recipient of a solid leather suit case. The appointments are announced of Acting Professor Launcelot Harrison to the Muir of zoology in the University of Sydney, and 1 of Associate Professor John Hunter as professor of anatomy. Professor Hunter, who is only twenty-four years’of age, is at present in America on his way back to Sydney. Our Christchurch correspondent telegraplis that an interesting family gathering took place on Christmas Day, when Sir Joseph and Lady Ward had assembled around them all their sons, their daughters, their son-in-law, and daughtera-m----law, and their grandchildren. The reunion took place at the seaside residence of Air Cyril Ward. North New Brighton. Nineteen in all sat down to dinner —viz., Sir Joseph and Lady Ward; their eldest son Cyril, his wife, and their four children ; the daughter (Mrs B. B. Wood), her husband, and three children; Mr Gladstone Ward, his wife, and two children; Mr Vincent Ward, and Mr Pat Ward. Opportunity was taken of this complete family gathering to have a photograph taken of the group. Mr H. Coop, who has held the position as traffic inspector for the Railway Department at Dunedin for some time, has been promoted to chief passenger clerk at the Dunedin station, in place of Mr H. P. Stanaway. The latter has been promoted to goods agent at Dunedin. Mr T. M. iM'Donald, 8.A., son of Mr D. M. M'Donald, Mataura, has received an appointment as -resident master on the staff of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School.
