Canterbury, who had made 30 runs for no wickets, continued .their second innings, with Blunt (21) and "Worker (7). The weather was ideal. The batsmen opened cautiously, and the first five overs wore maidens, Gibson and Calthorpe being ineffective. Blunt finally put Gibson over the fence twice, but only four were scored off Calthorpe’s first six overs. Hartley relieved Caltloprpe, and at 68 Brand relieved Gibson. Blunt drove Hartley for four, bringing his own score up to 50. Chapman was brilliant in the field, but (be partnership piled up the runs steadily despite changes in the bowling. Blunt reached tho century in 105 minutes, but Worker took 138 minutes to reach the half century.
