OTTAWA, December 22. _ A Quebec telegram says that the historic dvurch of Notre Dame de la Rccoiivranee was destroyed by fire, which is believed to be the .work of incendiaries. Priceless art and religious treasures were destroyed, including the clerical vestments bestowed by the old French kings and regarded among the worlds most beautnul church establishment. —A. apd N.Z. Cable. The Basilika, which contained art treasures, priceless altar vessels, and historical souvenirs worth millions of pounds, was destroyed and nothing saved. The church, which was built in 1747, was damaged during the British invasion, and was restored several times. .Bine hundred French and British Empire builders are buried in the crypt. The church was Canada’s Westminster Abbey.—Reuter.
