NOT APPEALING TO OTHER LABOR. GENERAL STRIKE STORY A "FRAME UP.” [Special to the ‘ Stab.’] WELLINGTON, December 7. Rumors have been circulating lately that a general strike is likely in the near future as. a token of sympathy with the seamen and a protest against, wages re-' duction. Speaking before a Labor- rally last night, Mr It. Semple denied the reports. He said the stories were absolute- falsehoods, intended to scare the electors. He bad been informed by the Alliance of Labor, with permission to make a. public statement, that the question had never been discussed by the executive of the alliance. It was an absolute " frame up." He had been asked by Mr Young to state that the seamen had not appealed to anybody, and woto not going to appeal to anybody.
