UNION RAYING SEAMEN.
A Wellington Association message states that the seamen who are unemployed owing to the present shipping posit ion are receiving sustenance pa> to-day, equivalent to wluu would U; “ strike pay ’ it a strike had been ordered; It is stated that the union recently had a righting fund ot ahi ml. £12,000. and that it has been decided to pay married men £2 10s and single men £1 10s a week. It is estimated that 2,000 seamen and bremen are idle, including 1,200 affected by the hold-up. A meeting of seamen was held this morning, bub nothing was disclosed. Mr Young says : “ Nothing doing. - The proceodings against fifty-two seamen aro set down lor hearing on Tuesday.
