It is emphatically declared at White House that the President has no thought of asking Congress to modify the Volstead Prohibition Enforcement Act. Mr Harding is determined to enforce the law. The reiteration of the President’s attitude followed a statement by Mr A. W. Mellon (Secretary to the Treasury) that the enforcement of the law was becoming increasingly difficult.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
