COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL

DEMONSTRATION CONCERTS. The popularity of the demonstration concerts which follow the annual festival of the Dunedin Competitions Society was evidenced again last even- 1 ing by the largo attendance which filled His Majesty’s Theatre in all parts. These _ concerts are _ given entirely by the winning competitors—a fact which ensures an entertainment of a high order. Last evening, on the occasion of the second concert, there were twenty items on the programme, and they were performed with a promptitude that was very creditable to those concerned in the stage management. The concert was agreeably varied, including instrumental, vocal, elocutionary, and dancing items. All, the performers acquitted themselves in a manner which in every instance drew unstinted applause. Mr J. L. Salmond was in the chair, and was supported on the platform by Mr E. 0. Reynolds. FINAL CONCERT. 1 The festival will he brought to a close this evening, when the most attractive programme of the season will he presented.
