“Afraid to go home in the dark.” This impudent message (says the Christchurch ‘ Press ’), painted in hlack letters on a piece of a petrol tin, was found attached on Tuesday morning to a motor car belonging to Mr G. W. Drayton, which was taken from outside the Masonic Hall on Monday night, and woo discovered in North Hagley' Park. Indications point to the car having been taken for the purpose of a joy ride, as the petrol consumed would have taken the car about that distance. When the occupants had finished their ride, they ran the car through the fence beside the North road, and abandoned it, but not before they had smashed the front and rear wind screens with houlders, which were found in the bottom of tho car. The body of the car was damaged, and the tool box rifled. On Monday night the car, which is a Studebakcr, was seer proceeding along Mobrhouso avenue at a high speed.
