OTAGO ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the .Otago Hockey Association was held at the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Monday, there being a fairly good attendance of members, presided over by Mr L. J. T. Ireland. The selectors reported that H. Turbot had been elected captain of the first representative eleven. A telegraphic communication, from the Canterbury Association accepted a match with Otago's first and second elevens at Christchurch on September 2 next. The matter of referees for representative matches was referred to the Referees’ Association. Mr \V. H. Down was appointed manager, for the trip, to Christchurch and Mr W. M'Qucen of the Junior eleven to Timaru. It was stated that nothing definite had yet been received from the Rugby Union as la whether Carisbrook or the Caledonian Ground would be available for the match with the' Australians on September 13. Reports- were received from the Billeting, Finance, and Entertainment Committees for the visit of the Australian touring team. These stated that arrangements were being made with the .Overseas Club regarding a social to the Australians. A reply from the mayor regarding a civic reception was received. The Match Committee reported that ,the City senior team had won the Hayward Cup for the seven a side tourney, and the cup was awarded accordingly. Regarding tlia junior competition, the Match Committee reported that the University C team was leading. Mr Calder moved and Mr Comrie seconded—“ That the Junior competition ba declared closed, and the cupawarded to the lending team.'’ The cup was awarded accordingly. Mr Hogg reported that the third grade competition had been closed, and that High School A were leading.—The Gymnastic Memorial Cup was awarded accordingly. It was decided to place the matter of billeting the Christchurch secondary and primary schools hoys with the special committio appointed, and school teachers bo circularised asking their hockey boys to billet iho visitors over the week-end of September 9 next.

Mr MT.cod (Primary Schools’ Committee) reported that in iho primary schools competition Normal A were leading by 6 points. He moved and- Mr Hayward seconded—“ That iho schools’ banner bo awarded accordingly.” —Carried. A letter was received from the South Canterbury Association accepting a match at Geraldirio on the 51st inst.

The Secretary reported that arrangements were well in hand for the entertainment of the' South Canterbury teams at Dunedin on the 2nd pros., this association to work in conjunction with the Ladies' Association, which was putting on a curtain-raiser match. A letter was received from the New Zealand Hockey Association recommending! certain admission charges. The Secretary reported having replied, and his fiction was approved.—The same association wrote requesting certificates of weights and ages of players in the Hatch Cup team, this to be forwarded not later than seven days prior to the match.
