(Received August 22, at 12.25 p.m.) General Townsend, interviewd in Paris, said that, as a result of his interview with tho Turks, ho believed that, without too much sacrifice of amour propre or of tangible interests on the part of either of the belligerents in the Grteco-Turkish wav, peace could be restored and. dangers threatening the position of Britain in India, Mesopotamia, and Egypt averted; but Prance and Britain must act together.—A. and N..Z Cable.
