SOCIAL TO MR MUNRO M.P.
Mr J. W. Munro, M.P., was tendered a social in tho Trades Hall on Saturday evening by the Bakers and Pastrycooks’: Union, of which he is a member. There was a largo attendance, and associated on tho platform with the guest of the evening were Mr W. Sanders (president of the union), Mr .Moss (president of the Otago Labor Representation Committee), and Mr A. Morrison (president of the Labor Day Association). The Chairman, in proposing the toast of Mr Munro, congratulated him on the successful stand he had made for Labor interests in tho Dunedin North by-election, and Stated that Mr Munro was the only baker in Parliament.
Mr Munro, in responding to tho toast, emphasised tho need for greater interest on the part of the workers in the affairs of the country, and urged them to endeavor to see that Labor candidates were returned in much larger number at the Genera! Election. Other toasts were honored. During the evening musical items were contributed by Messrs J. Faulkner, R. Richardson, T. Hutton, R, M'Donncll, W. Campbell, J. Gilchrist, and C. Brooks.
