‘FACING THE MUSIC’
No more laughable comedy than ‘Facing the Music ’ has been produced in the dominion. It is to be staged in His Majesty’s Theatre on Wednesday _ next and following nights, under tho direction of Mr T. De Spong, who himself undertakes the principal character, John Smith. The Rev. John Smith and Colonel Duncan Smith will be represented by Mr Clive Barclay and Mr Black. They are all connected with a mansion of flats in Kensington, and hopeless muddles are extracted from this fact. Mr Reg. Tapley fills the merry part of Dick Desmond, and Mr J. Brown plays Sergeant Duffell, who succeeds in getting everyone mixed up. Miss Ethel Hrlliker fills the part of Mabel (the curate’s wife), and Miss Linda Johnstone the character of Nora (John Smith’s partner in a world of troubles and mistakes). Bliss Alice Smith will represent the bright Miss Fotheringham, of the Brigan Theatre; and the part of Mrs Pouting will be taken by Miss Ruth Sullivan. Tho comedy, though full of mirth-produc-ing situations, is dean and free of any objectionable suggestions. Tho box plan will open at The Bristol on Monday. The proceeds are to be devoted to re-establish the Operatic Society in Dunedin,
