MOSGIEL NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.] A very successful “ hard-up ” dance and social was held in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday night. Some amusing costumes were worn, and altogether much fun was cot out of the function. Messrs M'Cloy, Watt, and Wilkie supplied the music. Prior to refreshments being handed round a hard-up supper was served. This consisted of cheese and biscuits broken into small pieces and served to the dancers from a wheelbarrow. A meeting of ratepayers yesterday decided to recommend the Taieri County Council to continue rating as at present, with a slight increase to cover the cost of removing obstructions and other incidental works. The advisability of keeping the gravel out of the lower reaches in the stream was pointed out, and the need to take steps to stop the travelling gravel at different points, and then use it on the adjoining roads.
