SIDNEY WOLE CONCERTS

A general meeting of all the committees tjiat worked for the Sidney Wolf complimentary concerts was held last night, when Mr E. Bennell (secretary) and Mr W. E. 0. Reid (treasurer) jointly presented a statement from the executive showing a net surplus of £475 5s 9d. The gross receipts amounted to £558 6s, made up as follows :—'Sale of tickets £352 6s sd, door sales £2l Is, box office sales £3l, sale of programmes £2l 5s 6d, donations £ll2 13s.

The executive added; “ Tho results achieved, from both a musical and a financial point of view, may undoubtedly be regarded as fully maintaining Dunedin’s reputation, as a musical centre. The organisers of the conceits wish to place on record their grateful appreciation of the excellent services rendered by the musical societies and their conductors, and by the soloists and accompanists who took part in the performances. Thanks must he expressed also to all those who by their liberal donations, assistance in the disposal of tickets, and in other directions were helpful to the movement. Special thanks are due to Mr F. W. Bayley for his untiring efforts as assistant secretary.” The executive recommended, as to the disposal of the net surplus, that three trustees be appointed to confer with Mr IV. R. Brugh, so that the amount available may be handled in the way most advantageous to Mrs Wolf. This recommendation was adopted, it being resolved, on the motion of Mr Richard Hudson, that Messrs G. W. MTntosh, R. Bemiell, and W. E. C. Reid bo appointed trustees to confer with Mr W. R. Brngh, and that the trustees be given full power to deal with the fund in such way as will in their opinion be in the best interests of Mrs Wolf.
