THE NEILSON MYSTERY
POLICE DROP THE CASE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, August 14. The Homo Office states that the letters A.R.I. on Major Neilson, which arc I.E.A. inverted, and which were twice repeated, were found scratched on his chest. These and also a wound on the forearm were apparently canoed by a sharp instrument. A bloodstained razor was found hi his lodgings. Though Major Neilson adheres to his story, the local police have uropped the case.—A. ami N.Z. Cable.
[Major Neilson, formerly Chief Intelligence Officer of the Royal Irish. Constabulary, was supposed to have been attacked by gunmen in Devon. An early message suggested that the police were not convinced by this explanation of his injuries, which was given by him first in a disjointed statement whilo he was in a eemicOtiscious condition.]
