Berlin correspondent points out that a banned played, entitled ‘Dismissal,’ by Emil Ludwig, the biographer of Bismarck, founded on direct quotations from unpublished documents, contains the following quarter of a century old dialogue when Bismarck unsuccessfully recommended the renewal of the RussoGerman Alliance:
Bismarck; “Then must Germany fight on two fronts and go under?” Kaiser: “I’ll know how to prevent that. It is my kingdom to play with.” __ Bismarck heatedly replied: “\cs, your Majesty, but Germany was horn before you entered the world. As long as I breathe I’ll know how to protect it.”—A.
