Four tenders were received by the Wakari School Committee for alterations and additions to the school hall, and that of Mr A. 0. Fountain was accepted, the price being £505 3s 6d. When the hall is completed the dimensions will be_3oft by 58ft, and, in addition, there will bo a lady teachers’ retiring room, a hat and cloak room, a supper room, and a muchneeded fully-equipped kitchen. In all, the additional flooring will cover 1,120 square feet. The contractor anticipates handing over the completed work at the end of October. A Guardsman just managed to board a second-class compartment on a moving train.
