The Hope of Dunedin Lodge of Good Templars held its weekly meeting on Wednesday evening, Bro A. Gibson, P.C.T., presiding (and afterwards the C.T., Bro. E. South). One candidate was initiated. Gore took for his subject ' Sixty Years Ago,’ when he joined the Junior Garibaldi Cadets, very popular then in England, and exhibited a photo of himself taken when a member of this band. They were pledged to total abstinence. He ' was congratulated on having proved faithful. One member introduced the community singing movement, and it was decided to purchase 100 of the campaign song books published by the New Zealand Alliance. The Lodge Deputy took for his subject ‘An Economic Waste.’ He said that, tested by the standard of utility, the drink traffic ■stands condemned a« a great economic waste.
