FROM HOME, SWEET HOME, TO THE FOOTLIGHTS

The home of Mr and Mrs Schofield, Hope and Stafford streets, was the scene of a very happy gathering on tho occasion of the departure of their daughter, May Turner, on tour with Fullers’ American Revue Company. After tho final performance on Saturday evening at tho Princess, whore May was presented with a number of beautiful gifts, as also were the principals and ballet of the company, the following ladies and gentlemen attended u reception .given to May Turner by her parentsOf (ho American Revue Company there were present Messrs Ward and Sherman, Miss Mabcllo Morgan, Miss Ida Merton, Miss Curley Sherwood, Miss Dorrie Toiriton, Miss Jean Moreton, Miss Billie Cooper, Miss Ruby Sherriff, Miss Doris Dodds, Miss Dorothy Hawkins, Miss May Turner. Others present wore Miss Flora Turner and her. auntie, Mrs Stephenson, of Oama.ni, Messrs Arthur Ringer (■who entertained with dramatic poems), Trengrove, sen. and jam, Daniels, James Crust, Roy Etediman, Mackenzie, Ramsay, Stone and" Wilson (of the Williamson Company), Mrs Scott, Mrs Miller, and Airs Dunn.

The dinner provided was a veritable banquet, there being everything on band that could possibly bo desired, and the merry party did not end its farewells until after 5 on Sunday morning, the only item absent from the programme being grace after msails. The poultry was roasted, the King was toasted, and everybody was delighted. Of course, when tho youngest daughter makes her initial departure from her homo and travels to places as distant as Sydney, in which oity, no doubt, tho Revue Company will be playing some time henoe, the effect upon the . parents is no small one, and amid the laughter and good cheer there were tho tears of prayer and hope for the young lady setting forth on the speculative career of an actress. Mias May Turner leaves Dunedin with the hearty wishes of a host of friends for a happy and prosperous career.—[lß22]
