TEMPERANCE UNION
There was a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the North-east Valley branch of the Women’ti Christian Temperance Union, held on Thursday in the institute. Miss Lowe (vice-president) presided, it being l also the quarterly evangelistic meeting. Mr Corlett, pastor of the Church of Christ, gave an instructive and helpful address on ‘ Shining ns Lights in the World,' and spoke nt some length on the necessity of keeping our lights burning brightly in a world full of darkness and sin. At the conclusion of his address Mr Corlett was accorded a vote of thanks. The treasurer (Airs Sanders) then gave the meeting a. statement of the result of the concert which had been held in May, and handed over a substantial sum for the fighting fluid. She waa accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for her untiring efforts in connection with the financial arrangements of the concert, resulting in its good success. A new member was then enrolled.
