CUBAN BANDITS
CONSUL CAPTURED.
ESCAPES BADLY WOUNDED.

WASHINGTON, July 29. (Received July 31, at 9.5 a.m.)
The State Department has received confirmation of the reported kidnapping by bandits of tbo Acting American Consul (Mr Jova) at Saguda la Grande, Cuba. Mr Jova was held for 2,000 dollars’ ransom, but ho escaped, and returned to Cuba badly wounded by a knife. The Cuban Government immediately sent a force to apprehend the bandits.' Their capture is expected soon,—-A. and N.Z. Cable.
