RETURNED SOLDIERS’ AFFAIRS

EXECUTIVE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the executive committee of the Dunedin R.S.A. wa-s held last evening, those present being Messrs J. H. M'Nish (in the chair), E. J. Anderson, D. Forsyth, A. Leeden, and' R. Fullerton. On the recommendation of the Nominations Committee eleven new members, including two names, were elected. Three honorary members were elected. Nino transfers in and four transfers out were approved. One resignation was accepted. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late A. Otto. I The Secretary of the League of Nations | Union wrote regarding the vacancy on the union caused by the resignation of Dr Harrison from the R.S.A., and inviting the association to become a subscriber.—-The matter was left over to the next meeting. A letter was received from the Amenities and Town Planning Society agreeing to Mr Tan nock’s suggestion that returned soldiers should be on the society’s tree-planting work, iho society and the association eaeh to bear half the cost of the work.—lt was decided to accept the offer and to thank the society for its interest. The money (£100) will be taken out of the Poppy Day fund, and the work will provide employment for the twelve men who are at present working at the Gardens. It was decided to ask the dominion 1 executive to call a special meeting to appoint a deputation to ask the Prim© Minister to proceed immediately with the setting up of a commission to inquire Jnto -the revaluation of soldiers’ eeltlements, and to provide adequate representation of the association upon it.

The report of the Clubhouse Committee recorded minor building renairs, and recmestod the executive to define the duties of the committee and determine where its responsibility began and ended. The committee was going into the matter of repairs to several of the billiard tables, and hoped to make a report to the next meeting.—The definition of the committee’s duties was loft over for consideration at a more representative meeting. The secretary of the Dunedin Association (Mr A. C. Laing) was appointed secretary of the Otago District Council.
