LONDON, July 27. (Received July 28, at 11.35 a.m.) At tho Egypt inquiry Thomas White, second engineer, said that some -'asears hid in the boats, but some went down with the ship. _ , Mr Hamilton, third engineer, said that he descended into one, boat and found in it twenty-nine natives. He ordered the oars to he got out and the boat to be rowed to tho Egypt, but the natives declined, fearing that the ship would turn over on top of them. He said that if the natives had obeyed his order he could have got to the Egypt when she was listing, and passengers could have been saved. —A. and N-Z. 'Cable. (Received July 28, at 1.50 p.m.)
