WAIMATB HUNT. _ [Special to the ‘ Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 27. At the Waimato Hunt Meeting to-day Strathglass was made a slightly better favorite than Whipcord in, the Waimato Steeplechase, out was beaten by the Methvcn gelding even move easily,, than at Timarn. Taking charge running down the straight the second time. Whipcord led over the double half a dozen of Sartoline, Strathglass, and Juan. Entering the back straight Whipcord went right away, and, although Strathglass was vigorously ridden over the last half-mile, he could* make little- impression on the leader, who scored/comfortably by half a dozen lengths. Sartoline was a dozen lengths behind Strathglass, with San Sebastian last. ' An inquiry was held into the running of Strathglass,. but the rider’s explanation was accepted. The fiw use of the scratching pen reduced the field in the Hunt Cup to seven. The public voted the race to bo a match between Red Blaze- and Malincoort, the latter being penalised for nis Blucclifls .Steeplechase win. -.Sixtette carried Red Blaze off at the .first approach to the double, and things were easy thereafter for Malincourl, who soon opened up a gap of a hundred yards, and ran home ten lengths in front of Cicmona, who defeated Dardanelles by a similar distance.
