NORTH-EAST VALLEY. Tho annual meeting of the above club was held in the now pavilion last night. There was an attendance of over forty members, and Mr W. S. Culbort presided, All* H. J. Duncan (the president) being prevented from attendance through illness. Tho Chairman, moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, congratulated the club on the magnificent records of the year, both financially and as regarded play. The bowling section had had the best season to date in interclub matches, and one of their members (Mr J. C. Rigby) had secured the championship of the dominion. At the Easter tournament Messrs Rigby and Tonkin bad won the City Doubles. As regards membership it was also a record year, there being eight life, sixty-five active, and twelve honorary players attached. Financially, the club stood well indeed, and the lady section of the club had materially assisted to this.

After’ tho motion had been seconded! there was some discussion. Mr G. Dunn asked when authority had been given to purchase tho area added to the club’s property. It seemed to him that the club was now loaded with a liability of something like_ £BOO, which was a big thing.— Tho President said that the committee had taken it on themselves to incur the liability, there beinjr no time to call a genejal meeting ot members.—Mr ■J. Rhodes explained tho proceedings from tho beginning of negotiations, stating that ho had taken it upon himself to conclude the purchase, which he was willing to accept full responsibility for.—After Mr Dunn had expressed himself as satisfied with Mr Rhodes’s explanation, though doubting the accuracy of hia figures, JLr Rigby cleared the air as to matter's of procedure, and went on to refer to various matters of detail concerning the management of the clnb, especial reference being made to the non-completion of tho club ties. —A rather spirited discussion ensued, without anything definite being • arrived at. Mr Jonathan’Rhodes moved, and Sir J. O. Rigby seconded, that the action of the committee in purchasing the freehold bo approved.—This was carried unanimously.

The office-bearers elected were:—President, Mr J. Rhodes; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Colbert and M. Campbell; secretary, Mr H. O'Kane; treasurer, Mr T. Allan; General Committee—Messrs W. Hopkins, G. Dryden, and R. Muir; (Match Committee-—Messrs J. Tonkin, G. Dryden, and J. G. Rigby; delegates to centre, Messrs J. Tonkin and J. C. Rigby; auditor, Mr P. Gray. GREEK ISLAND. A special meeting of the Green Island Bowling Club was held in the pavJJ.on on Tuesday night, Mr A. Smollio (president) occupying the chair. A scheme propounded bv the treasurer (Mr Thomson) to enable the club to pay off tho mortgage, was discussed, and was agreed to unanimously. It was resolved to rescind tho minute that a sinking fund ho established. Mr E. Falconer’s grading scheme was discussed, and it was agreed that tho delegates should vote against it. Mr Allan’s scoring scheme and Mr Jacobsen’s scheme wero both discussed, after which it was resolved that tho delegates support Mr Allan’s scheme. Tho proposed holding of a champion rinks tournament at the end of tho season was also considered', and tho delegates were given a free hand in tho matter. In tho event of Mr Allan’s scheme being lost, it was decided to support Mr Jacobson’s motion. The matter of constituting a working beo to paint the pavilion was discussed, and it was agreed to got to work as soon as possible. The President intimated Iris intention of presenting a trophy to he competed for .by billiard players. It was decided and carried that a challenge ladder bo procured for tho billiard room. ♦
