The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society, held this morning, was presided over by Mr D. Andrew. The President referred to the death of Mr Gabriel Hodges, Mr Win. Duke, and Mrs Oliver (mother of Mr Arthur Johnson), and motions of condolence wore passed. > Mr E. F. Duthie, acting secretary, submitted a detailed report as to tire position of the society.—Referred to the executive for consideration. It was notified) that Sutton’s Cup, forwarded'by Donald Reid and Co., fox the largest prize-taker in roots at the Winter Show, would be an annual gift. A letter was received from Mr S. Bowman, attorney.for Mr G. H. Ma-cEw|ii, intimating that as that gentleman now resided at luvcrcaSgill he tendered his resignation as ,a committeeman. —Resignation received! with -regret]’ ithenrosolutidn also expressing sympathy with Mr MacEwaai in regard) to his long and appreciation of Iris services. ■ - The New Zealand! Romney Breeders’ Association it was presenting championship shields for the best Romney ram and the best Romney cwo at the next Summer Show. The President submitted a report as to the doings of the Council of Agriculture meeting at Wellington, and announced that Mr E. F. Duthie had been appointed to tbo executive of that body. The New Zealand Ayrshire Breeders 1 Association wrote recommending certain persons as judges of that class at the next Summer Show, when the championship for the South Island , is to he decided.— Referred to the Cattle Section Committee.
