‘MAID OF THE MOUNTAINS'

Another largo audience last night thoroughly enjoyed, tho performance of ‘ Tho A laid of tho Mountains ’ by J. C. Williamson's Royal Comic Opera Company. Tho beautiful scenic effects, tho excellent singing, and tho clover comedy work make the production a memorable one. Miss Shiela Gale earned tho warm plaudits of the audience for her pleasing portrayal of the part of Teresa (the maid of the mountains), and Mr Anew M‘Master was responsible for some splendid work in the role of Baldasarre, tho brigand chief. Air W. S. Percy, ns tho brigand Tonin, caused much amusement. Tho company left for Invercargill to-day, and will return on Saturday, when the final presentation of ‘ Tho -Maid of iho Mountains ’ will he given. On the occasion of tho last performance the members of the Otago University Football Club will attend as the guests of. the management. ‘ KATINKA. ’ The company will make its farewell appearances in Dunedin ou Monday and Tuesday evenings, presenting tho popular comedy-opera ‘ Katinka.’ The part of Xatinka will be essayed by Miss Shiela Gale, whose portrayal in Australia was attended with great success. Air W. S. Percy will he seen as Thadcleus T. Hopper, and he will be assisted in his, comedy scenes 'by Aliss Miono Stewart, while Air Leslie Holland will appear ns Knopf, Air Edmund Shorns as Ivan, and Mr Robert Chisholm us Boris. Tho beautiful ballets and the specialty acrobatic dance of Miss Jessie Sherwood and Air Thomas Aloore will be features of tho revival of ‘ Katinka.’ The plans for the final performance of ‘ Tho Maid of the Mountains ’ and the two representations of ‘ Katinka- ’ are now’ open at Tho Bristol, and day sale tickets may be secured at tho Geyser.
