SAILED July 26. Kaliika, s.s. (4.45 p.m.), 1,173 tons, Corby, for Now Plymouth via ports. Breeze, s.s. (10.40 p.m.), 553 tons, Venn, for Wanganui via pools. Holm/dolo, s.s. (10.50 p.m.), 810 tons, Holm, for Wanganui via ports.

Dalgety and Go. advise that tho ketch Rira was expected to leave Auckland yesterday for Dunedin direct with explosives. Sho should arrive here about tho middlo of next ■ week, and after discharge will load general freight for Auckland. Tho Calm is due hero on Monday from Lyttelton, and is listed to sail tho same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, ami Wanganui. Tho Gale has been fixed to load coal at Westport at the end of this week for Lyttelton. After discharge sho will come to Part Chalmers, where she will beplocecl in dry dock for cleaning and painting. The Kamona is duo at Dunedin about Monday from Westport and Greymonth via Bluff. From this port sho wifi go to Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Westport, and Grey mouth. Tho Glaucus is due at Lyttelton on Saturday from Bluff to load for Auckland. Tho vessel is taking cargo at reduced rates.

The Manuka k to leave Sydney to-day for Wellington, where she is due on Monday. She ia to sail on the return trip on August 3. , Tiro Sydney Marine Underwriters and Salvage Association is in receipt of a calble message stating that the barque Jamra is now quoted for reinsurance in London at 90 guineas. The Janna sailed from Sydney on December 3 with a full cargo of wheat for Falmouth. At the recent annual meeting of the Clyde Steamship Owners’ Association the chairman remarked that not a single motor sliip had been laid up during the present acute depression. Ho foresaw the time when there would be a cessation in the building of steomishius. especially for longdistance trading, and when the association would have to change its name. The Kaloa., from Auckland via Now Plymouth, Wellington, and Lyttelton, armed at Dunedin, this afternoon, and was berthed at the Birch street wharf to discharge several hundred tons of general cargo. The Katoa will remain in port until Wednesday next, end will sail on that day for Oamiaru. Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Wanaka is to leave Auckland to-day for Whiangared to complete loading for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Koromiko is to sail to-morrow for Oamaru and Bluff to discharge the remainder of. her coal cargo. From Bluff she will go to Westport. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Maori arrived at Lyttelton, at' 7.10 a.m to-day from Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the 8.45 a.m. express for the south, SHIPPING SALES. The Patrick 5.3, Company has disposed of the steamer Tima.ru to the North Coast S.N. Company, and. has purchased the Duranbah from the North Coast Company to take her place, lire Timaru is on iron steamer of 459 tons 'gross, built at Sunderland in 1885, while the Duranbah is a steel steamer of 284 tons, launched at Kingliom m 1905. NEWCASTLE’S L6ST COAL TRADE, During the first six months of 1922 2,172,731 tons of cool, valued at £2,326,112, were exported from Newcastle. This is a decrease of 327j911 tons as compared with the corresponding period of 1921, when tho quantity exported was 2,500,642 tons, valued at £2,635,144. Interstate exports increased from 1,287,352 tons to 1,369,711 tons, thus showing that tire decrease in the aggregate was due to loss of foreign trade.' A LONG VOYAGE. News of an extraordinary long voyage was received in Sydney recently. The Smith steamer Bradclyde, which left Ocean Island for Stettin, Germany, on December 24 last, only arrived at. her destination on May 10, tho voyage in all taking 137 days. The vessel was forced to pul into Honolulu during January, owing to engine trouble, and left again on February 25 in continuation of her voyage. Previously the Bradclyde was, known as the War Castle, one of that large number of vessels winch were Ibuilt and named under the “War” class, during - the Great War. for the British Government. SALVAGING WILTSHIRE'S CARGO

Tiro salvage of tho - Wiltshire's cargo is being energetically proceeded with, the work being aided during the pact few days by favorable weather. The total quantity of cargo landed in Auckland last week amounted to approximately 400 tons. Most of tho cargo salvaged so far is of small bulk, passed up from Die holds by hand and transferred to tho vessels alongside by a chute. Heavy cargo, however, is now being got out by a steam winch, which was used for the first time on. Wednesday. Heavy crates of plate glass were removed by this means. Great care has been- exercised to prevent damage to tho vessel’s lightering alongside the wreck. The Wiltshire’s largo spare anchors have been moored some d istanco from the ■wreck, and tho lightering vessels are made fast to them Iby stout hawsers, which prevent the small vessels quite touching the steel sides of the Wiltshire. Heavy fenders of logs have been placed against the plates to minimise the danger of crushing.

WAIKOHAITI FROM SYDNEY. The Union Company advise that tho Waikouaiti, which arrived at Bluff yesterday afternoon from Newcastle and Sydney, is duo at Dunedin to-morrow morning. The vessel has a. large general cargo for discharge here. Sho will sail about Tuesday next for Lyttelton, Bluff, and Sydney. TO LOAD AT MONTREAL. Tho New Zealaoid Shipping Company advises that the steamer Montrose has been fixed to load at Montreal in August for New Zealand and Australian, ports. Sho is expected to leave Montreal at tho end of August. PORT N Mitel II VM LONDON. Cable advice received hv Messrs J. W. Swift and 00. slates that the C. and D. liner Port, Napier leu. Loudon on July 22, cargo laden, ror Auckland. Wellington, and Dunedin via Panama. She is duo at Auckland about September i, and should reach this port about September 10. TASMANIA REPORTED. A cablegram received by the New Zealand Shipping Company 'slates that the Tasmania arrived at Montevideo ou July 22 from Wellington, and sailed the same day for London, The Tasmania left Wellington on Juno 29.
