Arising out of dianges against'a young man, William James Grenfell, in iho Police Court this’ morning of stealing four motor tyres, the property of his employers, Detectives Lean and Roycroft arrested two taxi drivers— Arthur George Scherp, on charges of receiving three of the tyres (two valued at £l2 4s 6d each and one of the value of £8 17s 6d) knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained; and Ernest Nelson Didham on a charge of being the receiver of one valued at £l3 4s 6d. The accused (who were represented by Mr 11. S. Irwin) were brought before the Police Court later in the day and remanded until Monday' next, the day on which Grenfell is to appear. Bail was allowed.
