THE NEXT FAMINE
The next famine will -come in 1923, so William, Beveridge, tho well-known English economist, director of tho London School of’ Economics, informs us. In that year there will be frightful rain that will *caiuso the loss of all crops, and this will result in a dearth the like of which was not seen in Europe since the Middle Ages. Mr Beveridge claims to ho sure of this fact. Tic bases his allegation on the most severe scientific data. Doubt is impossible. And yet, savs ‘Le Petit Parisicn,’ we cannot. ignore the fact that other meteorologists, ‘ astronomers, and economists, who likewise base themselves on not loss rigorous scientific data, announce the very contrary.
