The meeting nearest to Anznc Day in all lodges of the M.U. of Oddfel.ows is ret aside for the purpose of paying lowm; tribute to the memory of those brethren who made the supreme sacrifice, in the Great War. Members of Loyal Valley foregathered in goodly numbers on tho evn of Anznc Day for tins purpose. N.b. Bro. S. Urquhart presided, ami, having formally opened the meeting, proceeded to explain the origin of Anzac Day mid wbaL it meaTit to nil true Brilislu'i.'-. As a tribute to our heroic dead he asked the brethren to stand: and face the lodge roll of honor, while P.P.G.M. Brn. Jas, Briggs sounded the ‘ Last Posi. Later in the, evening P.G. Bro. V.. J. Hutton read extracts from Maselields Gallipoli. He was listened to with interest, and received' the thanks of the meeting. Members were reminded 1 of the official visit to Loyal Albion on Thursday, the 4th in.re. Several visiting brethren were present, and the District Executive, represented by Prov. G.M. Bro. Jno, Will and Prov. D.G.M. Bro. J. A. Robson, f were received with customary honors. This being Bro. Will's first appearance in the lodge since his elevation, to the G.M.’s chair, the N.G, extended fraternal greetings, and wished him a pleasant and 1 profitable term of office. Tho Prov. G.M., in reply, thanked tho lodge for its good wishes, and urged members to do their bit, in an endeavor to maintain the prestige of the M.U. N.G. Bro. Bogins presided over tho usual fortnightly meeting iff' Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge. Anzac Day was fittingly referred to, members standing in silence, facing tho roll of honor for a short period in trihnle to their glorious dead. Prov. Tn».s. Bro. A. Sligo delivered a short address relative to the occasion. Quito recently tin's lodge received a fraternal visit from P.P.G.M. Bro. A, Hteffanson, of the Wellington district. This brother was well reccßcd, and later in the evening delighted members with a, recital of some of his experiences in Oddfellowship, The meeting of Loyal Albion, held in commemoration of the sacrifices made in the Great War, was fairly well attend.’:!. N.G. Bro. E. Longwcrth presided, and addressed the meeting in words appropriate to the occasion, relating, briefly some of tho main incidents of tho Great War. Per. Sec. Bro. Stnbb made special reference to those, wiio made, the supreme sacrifice. Representatives of Loyal Hand and Hear!, Dunedin, and l Milton Lodges responded to the customary torsi. Arrangements are well in hand fur too entertaining of members of sister Edges on tho occasion of the official visit to be he!J on Thursday, the 4th inst.
