PRIME SHEEP DEARER. There were largo yardings in each department of fat stock at the Burnside sales to-day, fat cattlo in particular being in over-supply. Tho quality on the whole was fairly good. Prime mutton was a shade dearer, but lambs, pigs, and cattle were easier in tone. Sheep.—A large yarding, numbering 2,007 head, of fair quality. Good wethers were scarce, the bulk of tho yarding being comprised of ewes. Light-weight wethers suitable for freezing purposes brought a fraction over od per lb, but several pens which contained prime heavy-weight wethers did. not realise such good prices per lb as the good' light-weight class. Competllioii was keen, and wethers cold at an advance of Is 6d per head, while ewes realised prices about on ft par with last week's rates. Extra prime heavyweight wethers realised from 53a to 35s 6d; prime, 27s to 325; medium, 23s to 25s 6d ; light and unfinished sorts from 18s to 21s. Prime owes realised from 20s to 23s 3d; medium, 17s to 19s; light and aged from 12s 6d upwards. Lambs.—A largo yarding, numbering 1,330 head, of fair quality. The sale was not quite so brisk na_last week. Freezing buyers wero operating up to certain limits. A clearance was effected' prices which showed ft reduction of Is 6d per head, whidh is on a basis of about BRI per lb. Prime lambs realised up to 51s 3d, and others from 17s 6d to 225. Fab Guttle.-—Following on the largo yarding last week, to-day’s supply proved to bo in excess of requirements. Tho total number offered was 296, and many of the pens contained animals of very good quality. Tho demand was slack, and prices were slightly below tho low rates which ruled at'last week’s sale. Prime bullocks realised up to £ls; medium, £7 Ida to £9. Prime heifers realised up to £7, and medium from £5 to x,6. Store, Cattle.—A large yarding was offered, which included several pons of fat and forward three and four-year-old bullocks. One pen realised up to £7 17s 6d per head. A largo number of forward cows were sold at cheap rates, ranging from £2 10s to £6 per head. Inferior cattle wore hard to quit, and those which wero sold realised very low rates. Pigs.—A full yarding was offered, comprising mostly baconors. Competition was fairly brisk, but prices were fully 5s below those realised at tho previous sale. Prime baconers realised from 7d to 7Jjdi per lb, and prime porkers from 8d to Sjd per lb,.
