MOSGIEL BOROUGH COUNCIL

The monthly meeting hold last evening war, presided over' by too Mayor (Mr Wm. Allan). The Taiori Rovers Football (dub had been granted permission to make a charge for admission to tho ground on those Saturdays on which senior Rugby football matches were played, provided ladies and school children wero admitted free and that the. club paid to the, council one-third of tho not gate receipts. Messrs. W. I). Purvis and D. Enthvcn had been appointed to the permanent staff. —Adopted. The General Committee reported that the council had been gazetted a licensing authority under tho Explosive and Dangerous Goods Amendment Act, 1920, and that the clangorous goods by-law had been made applicable to the. borough by Ordcr-in-Council under that Act. Tho committee recommended that Inspector -Mitchell be appointed an inspector under the. Act. It was resolved to draw the* ranger’s attention to the amount of wandering stock on the streets. Tho Mayor of Dunedin requested assistance in the matter of the Russian famine and starving children of Europe relief fund. The Clerk submitted the estimates for 1922-23. The rates, which comprise general, hospital and charitable aid, lighting, water,, and sanitation, will total tho same as last year.
