DUNEDIN-KAIKORAI TRAM SERVICE
io the niirrou.
Sir,—As tho Dunedin and Kaikorai Train Company is holding ite annual meeting on tho oOtli infit.j I think ft an opportune time to bring before the shareholders and the general public the advisability of soiling this property to tho Dunedin City Corporation, which will than have control of all tho city lines, which will no doubt bo ran in a much more wjpnomical manner. Since the corporation took ovw the lloslyn line I. with many more constant travellers, see a marked- clilterencu from the old regime. I personally feel sorry that Mr Hunter, tho manager o£ the Kaikorai line, is retiring, as ho was the only manager who brought tho concern to a paying proposition. I am certain that the property will be a paying concern to tho city if properly and economically run. It is no use the present directors holding out for a greater price than the property is worth, so let there bo an impartial tribunal set up from both parties, who will no doubt arrive at a fair and equitable settlement satisfactory to both shareholders and the general public. Besides, tho residents will eventually benefit, no doubt, by cheaper faxes, and a greater number wul acquire small freeholds of their own, besides living in a healthier atmosphere, and getting away from some of tho city slums.—l am, etc., W. Ji. M. Fea. March 24.
