KENSINGTON STREET ACCIDENT
THOMAS DAY ARRESTED
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.
Thomas Day, the driver of the horse and trap that knocked down and killed a little boy at Kensington on Thursday oi last week, was arrested this morning and brought before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., on a charge ol manslaughter.
Tho charge read: “ That on March 16, at Dunedin, he did unlawfully kill Harold James Moody, and thereby committed the crime of manslaughter, being an indictable offence.”
Mr A. C. Hanlon appeared for accused.
Sub-inspector Eccles said Day was arrested only this morning, and he asked for a remand for him to appear this day week. Then a further remand would be asked for till tho Monday. Mr Hanlon : “ I agree.” His Worship remanded accused to appear on April 1. Mr Hanlon applied for bail, which His Worship fixed at £2OO, in one surety of £2OO or two sureties of £IOO each.
